SAN ANTONIO (June 2, 2016) – VIA Metropolitan Transit is offering Special Event Park & Ride Service, June 10-12, 2016, to the 45th Annual Texas Folklife Festival at the Institute of Texan Cultures, 801 E. Cesar Chavez Blvd.

Organizers of the 2016 Texas Folklife Festival are promoting public transportation and ride sharing options to attendees, as part of the festival experience and a solution to traffic and parking challenges near the downtown festival grounds. VIA, Lyft and B-Cycle are each offering special service to the event.

VIA Park & Ride Service to the festival takes passengers from the Crossroads Park & Ride, 151 Crossroads Blvd., to Gate 3 on Cesar Chavez Boulevard at the Institute of Texan Cultures, on the following schedule:

• Friday, June 10 – 4:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
• Saturday, June 11 – 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
• Sunday, June 12 – 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The fare is $2.50 each way with discounted fares available for children, seniors, students, and active-duty military, in uniform or with a VIA Reduced Fare ID. Cash and credit cards are accepted at the Park & Ride locations. VIAtrans customers and children under age 5 ride free. VIA bus passes are not valid for this service.

VIA’s VIVA centro (Route 301), part of a new service line to debut June 6, will also serve the festival area. Passengers on VIVA centro should exit the bus near the Convention Center, within walking distance to the Institute of Texan Cultures. VIVA centro runs every 15 minutes from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays, and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends. Standard bus fares apply. Visit VIAinfo.net/VIVA for more information.
