VIA offering fare-free VIVA route trips to support Museum Month celebration

SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 2, 2017) – VIA Metropolitan Transit is declaring every Saturday in October a “Let’s VIVA Day” with fare-free service on all three VIVA routes. VIA, the official transportation partner for Museum Month San Antonio, invites the public to enjoy complimentary VIVA service and support the many special events happening throughout the three VIVA corridors next month, including the first mobile concert aboard a VIVA bus.

Fare-free days are October 7, 14, 21, and 28, 2017, on VIVA culture (11), VIVA missions (40), and VIVA centro (301). Download the free VIA goMobile app to plan a visit or make it a full Saturday of exploring museums, cultural events, and the visual arts scene in the heart of San Antonio.

Enjoy a free mobile concert aboard VIVA on October 21. The official Museum Month event will feature local musicians and singers performing aboard VIVA culture (11) in a one-time-only, pop-up performance. The moving musical experience will travel between the McNay Art Museum and Blue Star Contemporary Arts Center. Approximate departure times for the live event are 1:05 and 2:05 p.m. Boarding will take place at VIVA stops at both The McNay (6000 N. New Braunfels Ave.) and Blue Star Arts Complex (116 Blue Star). Space on the bus is limited.

Museum Month partners are offering membership discounts throughout October, with free or discounted admission at several popular destinations including The DoSeum, The Witte, Briscoe Western Art Museum, Blue Star Contemporary Arts Center, The McNay, and more.

VIVA routes run daily. For more information on VIA’s VIVA service, visit VIAinfo.net/VIVA. For a complete list of Museum Month events, visit MuseumMonthSA.org.
