May 4 event is part of Bexar County’s 300th Anniversary Celebration

SAN ANTONIO (April 23, 2018) – VIA Metropolitan Transit has partnered with Bexar County to provide complimentary and convenient travel options to the “Fireworks along the Mission Reach of the San Antonio River” event on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Concepcion Park, 500 W. Theo; Mission County Park, 6030 Padre Dr.; and Mission Espada, 9706 Old Espada Rd. This event is being held as part of the County’s commemoration of the founding of the Presidio de Béjar in 1718.

The once-in-a-lifetime fireworks display along the San Antonio River kicks off several events and programs for the County’s 300th Anniversary Celebration. On May 4, VIA will extend the service hours of VIVA missions (Route 40) until 10:30 p.m., and event attendees can ride the route to visit any of the three Mission Reach locations without paying a fare. Special detours will also be added to serve the free parking areas at the Bexar County Courthouse garage at 211 S. Flores St. and at Brackenridge High School, 400 Eagleland Dr. Free parking will also be available at the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center, 600 Mission Rd., which is on the VIVA missions route.
