Partnership with Alamo Area MPO connects and empowers people and enhances quality of life

SAN ANTONIO (May 1, 2018) – Your bike is your bus pass on May 4, the day of the Walk & Roll Rally, hosted by the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). VIA Metropolitan Transit is offering customers who travel with a bicycle fare-free bus rides in support of the Rally, which takes place from 8 to 9 a.m., Friday, May 4, 2018, at Main Plaza, 115 Main Plaza.

VIA has partnered with the MPO since 2005 to support the Walk & Roll Rally by offering free bus rides for bicyclists. The Rally is part of a full calendar of events throughout May to promote National Bike Month and active transportation, such as walking, cycling, and riding VIA. These transportation options positively impact the economy, quality of life, public health, and the environment.

Since the first Walk & Roll Rally in 1996, there have been numerous efforts to support multimodal travel in the region, including collaborations with community partners like VIA to make biking and walking more attractive options for local travel.
