Park and ride available for UTSA games
VIA Metropolitan Transit will provide park and ride service to all University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners football games in the Alamodome for the 2011 season.
The special event service begins with the first matchup on Saturday, September 3 against the Northeastern State Riverhawks, and it will continue for all home games. Park and ride service to the Alamodome will be provided from the Crossroads Park and Ride, the Madla Transit Center, and Lot 5 on UTSA’s Main Campus. Service will begin three hours before game time, and return service will run for 45 minutes after each game.
The fare is $2.50 one way (total of $5.00 roundtrip) with a discount fare available to children, seniors, Medicare recipients, and students. VIAtrans customers and children under five years of age ride free. VIA’s daily, monthly, and semester passes are not valid for this service. A current student ID is required to receive the student rate.
For UTSA students wishing to get to the games from the Downtown Campus, the Yellow Streetcar route provides service to the Alamodome from a VIA bus stop near Lot D3. The frequency of the route is approximately ten minutes, and the fare is $1.10 each way with a discount rate of 55 cents for students. A current UTSA student ID is required to receive this rate, and the exact fare is required because VIA bus operators do not provide change. All VIA passes are valid for the Streetcar service.
