During Fiesta, the parades require VIA to reroute the buses that go through downtown, and riders should be aware of these reroutes and where to board the buses. Though this piece offers some valuable information on riding VIA during Fiesta, the most up-to-date information can be obtained by calling 362-2020.
Here is a rundown of how the parades will affect VIA service:
River Parade
Monday, April 20
This parade will not affect VIA bus service since it will take place on the River Walk.
Battle of Flowers Parade
Friday, April 24
This parade starts at 12:45 p.m.
· Regular daily schedules will operate on all bus lines.
· Buses will start turning back in the downtown area at 9:30 a.m.
· Bus service will be rerouted and schedules will be adjusted for the parade.
· Regular line-ups at 10:30 p.m., 11:30 p.m., and 12:30 a.m. will be available.
· Streetcar service will not be available from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Fiesta Flambeau Parade
Saturday, April 25
This parade starts at 7:45 p.m.
· Regular Saturday schedules will operate on all bus lines.
· Buses will start turning back in the downtown area at 4:30 p.m.
· Bus service will be rerouted and schedules will be adjusted for the parade.
· After the parade, extended temporary service will be provided on all lines.
· Line-ups at 10:30 p.m., 11:30 p.m., and 12:30 a.m. will not be available.
· Streetcar service will not be available from 4:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Reroute assistance
To help riders during the parades, VIA supervisors will be on hand to provide assistance at Travis Park and at the intersection of Nueva Street and Jack White Way.
Boarding downtown
During the parade reroutes, riders can board buses at the following locations:
· Travis Park on Navarro - routes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 82, 88, 90, 91, 92, 96, and 97
· Nueva and Jack White, eastbound - routes 26, 30, 32, 34, 36, 42, 43, 44, 46, 51, 67, 68, and 89
· Nueva and Jack White, westbound - routes 20, 54, 62, 66, 70, 75, 76, 77, 79, 93, and 94
· Regular stops along Market Street - routes 17, 21, 22, 24, 25, 28, 48, and 64
