On July 28, 2009, the VIA Board of Trustees agreed to provide bus service for the Morgan's Wonderland family fun park off Thousand Oaks Drive and Wurzbach Parkway.
Morgan's Wonderland was conceived by the Gordon Hartman Family Foundation to be a family park expressly designed for special-needs children. The 25-acre park is situated in the old Longhorn Quarry, and it has such features as playgrounds, a carousel, a gymnasium, a picnic area, a train, and a lake with a fishing wharf.
To help ensure increased access to the park, the VIA Board of Trustees agreed to provide bus service from route 502 to a transit facility right at the entrance of the park. The facility was designed specifically for this purpose, and the service will begin running as soon as the park opens.
