Bus route changes go into effect March 7
VIA Metropolitan Transit has revised the services for some of its bus routes. These changes, which affect the following routes, will go into effect Monday, March 7.
2 Blanco – Route will be modified in the northbound direction after departing the North Star Transit Center to continue northbound on San Pedro Avenue, left on Lockhill-Selma Road, and right on Blanco Road.
9 Broadway – Route will be extended north on Nacogdoches Road to serve the Nacogdoches Road Business Park. Inside the business park the bus will travel via Hillpoint Drive, Ridgeside, Highpoint Street, and Crosspoint. The current terminal loop via Salado Parkway and Salado Cliffs will no longer have service.
16 Fort Sam Houston/USO Express – Current detour inside Fort Sam Houston will become permanent. Service frequency will change from every 40 minutes to every 25 minutes during the day and every 50 minutes in the evening. Once downtown, route 16 will continue as route 65.
42 Roosevelt – Service will be rerouted along Hansford Street, Mission Road, and Mitchell Street to serve Mission Concepción and the Juvenile Justice and Detention Centers. The portion of Roosevelt Avenue between Hansford and Mitchell will be served by route 34 only.
65 Lackland AFB/USO Express – Route inside Lackland AFB will be modified to travel on Patrick Street, Craw Avenue, Selfridge Boulevard, and Carswell Avenue to serve additional bus stops. Service hours will be extended into the evening with the final return trip to Lackland departing the USO at approximately 10:00 p.m. Service frequency will change from every 20 minutes to every 25 minutes during the day and every 50 minutes in the evening. Once downtown, route 65 will continue as route 16.
232 Late night lineup Steves Ave./S. St. Mary’s (serving daytime routes 32 and 34) – Route will no longer enter McCreless Marketplace. Instead it will turn right from Ada Street to South New Braunfels Avenue before continuing downtown.
534 Wurzbach – Route will be changed to serve Park North Shopping Center in both directions. Buses heading south on Lockhill-Selma Road will turn right onto Blanco Road, left onto Rector Street, and left onto San Pedro Boulevard to the North Star Transit Center. After leaving the transit center, buses will turn right onto the Loop 410 eastbound access road, right onto McCullough Avenue, right onto Rector, right onto Blanco, and left onto Lockhill-Selma.
550 Looper Skip (clockwise) – Route will no longer serve Park North Shopping Center. Buses approaching the North Star Transit Center will turn left from the Loop 410 eastbound access road onto Blanco Road, then right onto Lockhill-Selma Road and right onto San Pedro Avenue.
551 Looper Skip (counterclockwise) – Route will no longer serve Park North Shopping Center or Rector Street in front of North Star Mall. Buses departing the North Star Transit Center will turn left onto the Loop 410 westbound access road and continue westbound.
651 Deco District/Castle Hills – Service frequency will change from every 30 minutes all day on weekdays to every 30 minutes during peak commute periods only and every 45 minutes during the midday and early evening periods.
660 Northwest Vista College/University Park and Ride – Route will be modified to travel on Rogers Road and Rogers Run between Wiseman Boulevard and Westover Hills Boulevard. Segments of Wiseman and Westover Hills east of Rogers Road will no longer have service.
In addition to the above changes, the following route schedules will be adjusted: 3, 4, 6, 8, 20, 26, 34, 46, 54, 67, 88, 91, and 97.
