VIA's art contest begins March 1

VIA Metropolitan Transit’s annual Youth Art Contest kicks off March 1, 2013, and all students in the San Antonio area are eligible to participate. This year’s theme is “Go VIA, Go Green”, envisioning how riding VIA benefits the community and helps the environment.
Students can illustrate the theme using any medium as long as an official poster board is used. The 11” x 17” poster boards are free and can be picked up starting Friday, March 1 at VIA’s administration offices (800 West Myrtle).
VIA’s Youth Art Contest is open to all students in grades pre-K through 12, and submissions will be accepted through April 12, 2013. The first place winner from each grade level will receive a $50 award, each second place winner will get a $25 award, and the Best of Show winner will receive a $250 award. Each winner will also receive a backpack from Radio Disney AM 1160, and they will be honored at an awards luncheon scheduled for May 15 at the Southwest School of Art.
