VIA bus route changes go into effect March 2

VIA Metropolitan Transit has revised the services for some of its bus routes. These changes, which affect the following routes, will go into effect Monday, March 2.

22 Hays Frequent – Frequency of Saturday service will be improved from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes.
25 East Commerce Frequent – Frequency of Sunday service will be improved from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes.
26 Martin Luther King – Route will be modified only for the buses that turn around at St. Philip’s College. These buses will travel from Martin Luther King Drive to Walters Avenue and then to Commerce Street and Rio Grande Street before returning downtown. The schedule will also be adjusted.
28 Porter – Frequency of Saturday service will be improved from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes.
48 IH-35 South Express – New route will provide peak period express service from the Madla Transit Center into downtown. Route will also provide extended service in the morning and the afternoon to Kings Point, replacing the current extended trips provided by route 51.
51 Nogalitos – Route will no longer serve Kings Point with extended trips. These trips will be provided by the new route 48.
64 US 90 Express – Route will be modified to stop at SeaWorld in the outbound trips only. Schedule will be adjusted to improve efficiency.
75 West Commerce Frequent – Frequency of Sunday service will be improved from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes.
76 Old Highway 90 West Skip – Frequency of Saturday service will be improved from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes.
79 Ruiz Frequent – Frequency of Saturday service will be improved from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes.
520 Zarzamora Frequent – Frequency of Sunday service will be improved from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes.
534 Wurzbach – Frequency of Sunday service will be improved from one hour to every thirty minutes. Route will also be modified to use Northwest Military Highway to reach Wurzbach Parkway instead of traveling on Lockhill-Selma Road to Wurzbach.
550/551 Looper Skip – Frequency of Sunday service will be improved from one hour to every thirty minutes.
605 UTSA/Mainland – Segment of route on Chase Hill Boulevard and Babcock Road outside of Loop 1604 will be eliminated. This segment will be served by a modification to route 660.
620 Northwest Vista College/Ingram – Route will be modified to serve the Takata seat belt factory on Wiseman Boulevard in both directions instead of just on the eastbound trip.
660 Northwest Vista College/University Park and Ride – Route will be modified to serve Chase Hill and Babcock Road outside of Loop 1604, a segment currently served by route 605.
Late night lineup route 51 – Route will be changed to lineup route 51-62, which will leave downtown as route 51 to Barlite Boulevard and Military Drive. The route will then travel to Cupples Road and Thompson Place before returning downtown as route 62.
Late night lineup route 46 – Route will be changed to lineup route 46-48, which will leave downtown as route 46 to Gillette Boulevard and then to the Madla Transit Center. The route will then return downtown as route 48.

In addition to the above changes, the following route schedules will be adjusted: 3, 4, 5, 8, 17, 20, 21, 30, 32, 46, 62, 67, 68, 77, 82, 91, 92, 93, 94, 522, 608, 632, and 651.
