Park and ride available for Fiesta 2009 events

VIA Metropolitan Transit will operate special event park and ride service to and from a number of Fiesta events scheduled for April 16-25, 2009. Service to these celebrations will run on the following schedule:

Fiesta Fiesta (Alamo Plaza)
Thursday, April 16 – 4:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. – Crossroads Park and Ride

St. Mary’s Oyster Bake (St. Mary’s University)
Friday, April 17 – 4:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. – Crossroads Park and Ride
Saturday, April 18 – 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. – Crossroads Park and Ride

River Parade (Riverwalk)
Monday, April 20 – 4:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. – Crossroads Park and Ride, Randolph Park and Ride, Madla Transit Center, and Park Hills Baptist Church

A Night in Old San Antonio (La Villita)
Tuesday, April 21 through Friday, April 24 – 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. – Crossroads Park and Ride, Randolph Park and Ride, Madla Transit Center, and Park Hills Baptist Church

Battle of Flowers Parade (Downtown streets)
Friday, April 24 – 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. – Crossroads Park and Ride, Randolph Park and Ride, Madla Transit Center, and Park Hills Baptist Church

Fiesta Flambeau Parade (Downtown streets)
Saturday, April 25 – 5:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. – Crossroads Park and Ride, Randolph Park and Ride, Madla Transit Center, and Park Hills Baptist Church

The roundtrip special event fare is $5.00 for adults. A discount fare of $2.50 is available for children ages 5-11, senior citizens 62 years and older with a photo ID, Medicare recipients, persons with disabilities, and students with a valid VIA ID. VIAtrans customers ride free. If the VIAtrans customer is accompanied by one companion and/or one authorized personal care attendant, all may ride special event service free of charge. Children ages 4 and under are also free when accompanied by an adult. No one-way fares will be offered and VIA’s monthly Big Passes are not valid for special event service.

VIAtrans service will also be available to Fiesta for registered patrons. The usual VIAtrans reservation policies apply.

As a special promotion, organizers of the Oyster Bake are offering free soft drinks to people who use park and ride service. Any one who rides VIA’s park and ride service to St. Mary’s University on April 17 and 18 will receive a coupon for one free RC/Big Red product at the Oyster Bake.
