VIA Metropolitan Transit’s Downtown Information Center, or DIC, has a new location, and it provides more services for bus riders than the previous location.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on June 1 to officially open the new DIC at 211 West Commerce Street. The new DIC is in the Melrose Building across from San Antonio City Hall, and it serves as an outlet where downtown riders can buy their passes, get route information, and have their VIA photo identification cards processed.
The new center also offers amenities that weren’t present in the previous location, such as an air-conditioned waiting area with seating, a real-time bus arrival display, restrooms, pay phones, water fountains, vending machines, and on-site security personnel.
The hours of operation for the new center are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The facility is accessible from Commerce Street, and it is served by eight bus routes and two streetcar routes.
