VIA holding meeting for route 524
Posted:
7/29/2009
VIA Metropolitan Transit will hold a public meeting to discuss the possibility of a route change that would move route 524 off Willamsburg Place and onto Hillcrest Drive. The segment of the route on Fredericksburg Road would be eliminated, and service would be moved to Babcock Road between Williamsburg and Hillcrest. This meeting will be held Thursday, August 6 beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the VIA Metro Center, 1021 San Pedro Avenue.
The proposed change would have the following impacts on route 524:
· Trips to and from the Crossroads Park and Ride would take approximately three minutes longer. · Passengers using stops on Williamsburg would need to walk to Babcock or Fredericksburg Road for bus service. · Current bus stops on Fredericksburg between Williamsburg and Crossroads Boulevard would no longer serve the 524, and transfers on Fredericksburg would need to be made between Crossroads and Hillcrest or at the park and ride. · New bus stops and service for route 524 would be established on Hillcrest. · The revised route would not serve VIA’s proposed bus rapid transit station at Williamsburg and Fredericksburg.
The VIA Metro Center is accessible by wheelchair. People who are deaf or hard of hearing may request an interpreter 48 hours prior to the meeting by calling TDD 362-2019 or the Public Affairs office at 362-2370.
