VIA providing shuttle service for Ike evacuees

Posted: 9/16/2008

VIA Metropolitan Transit is providing two special routes to serve evacuees from Hurricane Ike staying at the shelter at Port San Antonio.

The two shuttle routes will run every day from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. as long as the Port San Antonio shelter is open. One of the routes will ferry people from the shelter to the Wal-Mart on Loop 410 at West Military Drive, and the other one will travel into downtown to stop at St. Mary’s Street and Martin Street. Evacuees can ride these shuttles and any other VIA bus route free as long as they present an official wristband and announce their status as an evacuee.
