Discount bus fares are available for the following:

  • Senior Citizens (62 and older)
  • Students
  • Persons with certain disablities
  • Medicare recipients
  • Active-duty Military
  • Veterans who hold a disability rating for aide and attendance, housebound or permanent and total disability rating at the 80% level
  • Veterans 62 and older
  • Children 5-11. Children 4 and under ride free

Reduced Fare ID

A VIA Reduced Fare ID is required and must be presented when boarding in order to reduced fares or use discounted passes (children and active-duty military in uniform are not required to show ID).

How to get a Reduced Fare ID

Senior Citizens, Medicare Recipients, and Disabled Veterans can obtain their Reduced Fare ID at VIA's Customer Service Centers, except Randolph and Ingram.

Senior citizens who are 62 years or older must present a government-issued ID with date of birth (state ID, driver's license, veteran's ID or passport).

Medicare recipients must present a valid Medicare Card and government issued ID.

Veterans must have written documentation from the Department of Veterans Affairs verifying their disability rating.

Persons with certain disabilities can download the Reduced Fare application, or acquire one from VIA's Information Centers.

Elementary, middle and high school students can get the necessary forms through their administrator's office. College students should contact their Bursar's office.
