The CARE Program - An Emergency Backup
What happens if an employee rides the bus to work or vanpools and an emergency arises?
What if an employee gets sick, has a family crisis, or even has to work unexpected
overtime? That’s where the Certified Auto Ride in an Emergency (CARE) program comes
in.
The CARE program will help get bus and vanpool riders home by taxi in the event
of an emergency when riding the bus or vanpool may not be an option. VIA and the
Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) have set up the CARE program to provide
the needed backup transportation for bus, vanpool or carpool commuters. Individual
employees pay $5 annually to participate in this program. For more information
