Primo and other route changes coming December 2012
Many positive changes are coming to VIA customers in late 2012:
- New Primo service will provide faster more frequent service between downtown and
Medical Center
- New Medical Center Transit Center will provide more convenient, comfortable transfers
- New Westside Multimodal Transit Center will provide comfortable waiting areas for
riders and eventually serve as a full service multimodal hub
- New shuttle route will provide convenient service within the Medical Center area
- Route 520 will provide direct service to the Medical Center from the south side
of San Antonio

Changes related to the opening of the new South Texas Medical Center Transit Center
(STMCTC):
All routes currently serving the Medical Center area will be rerouted to serve the
new South Texas Medical Center Transit Center at Babcock and Medical Drive.
522 24th St. / Babcock - Route will be modified from Wurzbach and Medical Drive
to travel via Medical Drive to the STMCTC before continuing southeasterly on Babcock.

534 Wurzbach - Route will be modified to travel from Wurzbach to Babcock and on
to the STMCTC then return on Babcock to continue on Wurzbach. Map
602 North Star / Medical Center - Route will be modified from Medical Drive and
Floyd Curl, to travel on Floyd Curl, Wurzbach and then Medical Drive to the STMCTC.

603 Medical Center / UTSA - Route will be modified to travel from Ewing Halsell
and Medical Drive, to the STMCTC via Ewing Halsell, Floyd Curl, and Medical Drive.

604 Medical Center / University Heights - Route will be modified to terminate at
the STMCTC instead of continuing on Medical Drive and Merton Minter. Map
606 Medical Center / Alamo Ranch - Route will be modified to travel from Babcock
and Hamilton Wolfe, to the STMCTC via Babcock. Segments of the current 606 route
between Babcock/ Hamilton Wolfe and Merkens/Wurzbach will be served by modified
route 607. At Medical Center route will continue as route 607. Map
Route will also be modified to travel on Weybridge and Les Harrison rather than
Gallery Ridge and Cliffbrier. Segments of Gallery Ridge, Cliffbrier, and Culebra
no longer served by route 606 will be served by the modified route 610. Map
607 Medical Center / Ingram - Route will be modified to travel from Merkens and
Wurzbach to the STMCTC via Merkens, Cary Grant, George Burns, John Wayne, Danny
Kaye, Oakdell Way, Hamilton Wolfe, and Babcock. At Medical Center route will continue
as route 606 instead of 610.

610 Ingram / Northwest Crossing – Route will be modified to travel on Ingram, the
Piper’s Creek neighborhood, Culebra, Old Grissom, and Grissom to Misty Way instead
of Timberhill. From Timberpath and Cliffbrier, the route will travel on Cliffbrier,
Gallery Ridge, Dover Ridge, Weybridge and Les Harrison. Buses will turn back by
looping via Les Harrison, Culebra, Cliffbrier, and Timberpath. The current loop
on Branston, Brandyridge, and Trendwood will be eliminated. Off-peak service frequency
would improve from every 60 minutes to every 45 minutes. Route will no longer continue
as route 607.

618 Ingram / Westlakes – Route will be modified to travel from the Ingram Transit
Center on Ingram to Culebra and on to Rimrock Trail, rather than through Piper’s
Creek neighborhood. Segments in Piper’s Creek neighborhood will be served by modified
route 610.

600 Medical Center Shuttle (NEW ROUTE) - This new route will provide service every
30 minutes between the STMCTC and major destinations within the Medical Center campus.
Departing the STMCTC, the route will travel on Babcock, Merton Minter, Wurzbach,
Medical Drive, Louis Pasteur, Floyd Curl, Wurzbach, Merton Minter, and then return
to the STMCTC on Babcock.

Changes related to the start of Primo, VIA’s new bus rapid transit service
Primo 100 - This new route will travel from Ellis Alley Park & Ride and follow Chestnut,
Houston, Bowie, Commerce, and Medina to the new Westside Multimodal Transit Center
(WSMMTC). From there the route continues on Medina to Martin, IH-10, Fredericksburg,
and Medical Drive to the new South Texas Medical Center Transit Center (STMCTC).
On the return trips the route will be the same except after the WSMMTC the route
will return to Ellis Alley Park & Ride on Buena Vista, Dolorosa, Market, IH-37 Frontage
Road, and Chestnut. Extended trips will provide service from the STMCTC to the UTSA
1604 Campus via Medical Drive, Fredericksburg, IH-10, University Park & Ride, and
Loop 1604.

Primo service frequency - Daytime service will operate every 10 minutes on weekdays
and every 15 minutes on weekends. Extended trips to UTSA will operate every 30 minutes.
Early morning and evening service frequencies will be similar to current route 92,
with late night service to replace route 292 Fredericksburg Road Line-up.
Primo stops - Primo service will stop at exclusive stations along the main section
of the route and at the transit centers on each end. In the downtown area and on
the extended trips Primo will stop at shared bus stops.
Primo late night - Primo late night service in the downtown area will pass through
VIA’s bus lineup area to facilitate transfers to other downtown routes. Late night
Primo service will also make courtesy stops at regular bus stops along the route
beyond the Primo Babcock Station.
96 Vance Jackson – Current route 96 service will be supplemented with additional
service that will run on the segment between downtown and Fredericksburg at Olmos.
These additional shorter runs will operate every day every 30 minutes during the
daytime.
509 Hildebrand – Route will be modified to travel from westbound Hildebrand, left
on Fredericksburg Road, right on San Antonio Avenue, left on Mary Louise, before
continuing on Fredericksburg to Donaldson. This will allow the route to serve bus
stop #98573 on Mary Louise.
520 Zarzamora Frequent - Route will be extended from Crossroads Park & Ride to the
new South Texas Medical Center Transit Center via Crossroads, Fredericksburg, Louis
Pasteur, Babcock, Merton Minter, Wurzbach, and Babcock.

91 Fredericksburg Skip, 92 Fredericksburg Frequent, lineup 292 Fredericksburg Road,
302 Yellow Streetcar - Routes will be eliminated and replaced with improved service
provided in connection with the launch of VIA’s new Primo bus rapid transit service.
These improvements include: the addition of the new Primo route, increased service
on routes 96 and 520, and route changes around the new South Texas Medical Center
Transit Center and the Westside Multimodal Transit Center.
Changes related to the opening of Phase I of the Westside Multimodal Center (WSMMTC)
26 M.L. King and inbound lineup 225 E. Commerce / M.L. King – In the downtown area
the route will continue as route 68 instead of route 91. The route will begin at
Dolorosa and Flores and follow Market to South Alamo before continuing eastbound
on César Chávez. Inbound service will turn from César Chávez onto South Alamo to
Commerce.

68 Guadalupe Frequent and outbound lineup 268 Guad. St. / Ceralvo – In the downtown
area the route will continue as route 26 instead of 92. The route will be modified
as it approaches downtown to follow Frio to Houston and serve the WSMMTC, then travel
eastbound on Buena Vista and Dolorosa Streets. Heading out of downtown the route
will begin at Commerce and Presa and follow Commerce Street to the WMMTC, then turn
south on Frio to Guadalupe.

93 IH-10 Crossroads / UTSA Express - Route will be modified as it approaches downtown
to follow Martin and Medina to the WSMMTC, then continue to Buena Vista and east
on Dolorosa. Heading out of downtown the route will follow Commerce, Frio, Houston,
and Medina to the WSMMTC before continuing northbound to Martin and IH-10.

20 New Braunfels Frequent, 79 Ruiz Frequent, inbound lineup 277 Martin / Ruiz -
Minor routing changes in the vicinity of the WSMMTC.
