SAN ANTONIO (July 21, 2016)—The public is invited to offer input on the final draft of VIA Metropolitan Transit’s Vision 2040 Long Range Plan, a community-driven blueprint for the region’s public transportation system. The document is available for review and comment July 22 through August 19, 2016.

Over the past 18 months, VIA customers, stakeholders, and residents in San Antonio, Bexar County, and surrounding communities, helped develop VIA’s vision for the future of public transportation through participation in numerous meetings and multiple surveys. The additional comment period will serve to continue the community conversation as we work to finalize the Long Range Plan.

“When we look at the next 25 years, we recognize that keeping the region economically competitive and mobile will require innovative and adaptive solutions, building infrastructure today to help attract tomorrow’s riders,” VIA President/CEO Jeffrey C. Arndt said. “The Vision 2040 Long Range Plan is our roadmap, a living document that is continuously revisited and refined to reflect public priorities, accommodate shifting growth and development, and support a larger transportation vision with options that provide opportunity and access to all.”

The draft plan may be viewed and comments may be submitted online at VIAVision2040.com. It is also available for review at San Antonio Public Libraries or VIA Information Centers. Comments may be submitted online or in writing until 5 p.m., August 19, 2016.
