VIA Metropolitan Transit is proud to announce its 2020 VIA Poetry on the Move Winners.
Due to the Covid-19 health emergency, this year’s Poetry on the Move celebration to recognize winners was cancelled. But judges were still able to go through the hundreds of entries to pick the top poems of 2020, and those selections are on display below.
The popular poetry competition is held each year in observance of National Poetry Month. Winning entries are brought to life with illustrations provided by artists from four area art programs, and the pieces will be featured inside buses, throughout VIA’s fleet for the month of April
“VIA Metropolitan Transit has been providing our passengers with moving works of art for more than ten years, through Poetry on the Move,” said Jeff Arndt, VIA President and CEO. “This contest challenges poets and artists to find connections throughout the community, incorporating the literary and metrical aspects of poetry with the visual arts to inspire creativity and share experiences with VIA’s customers.”
