(Photo: VIA Metropolitan Transit) Rerouted for Friday, April 26, for the Battle of Flowers Parade and Saturday, April 27, for the Fiesta Flambeau. Most boardings for buses serving the Downtown area will be at Travis Park, Centro Plaza, Ellis Alley and Nueva Street at Jack White. The reroute schedule will run from 3 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the Battle of Flowers Parade, and from 2 p.m. until the VIA is reimaging the way you ride with a bold new plan to help you stay mobile while traffic and commute times grow. The “VIA Reimagined” Plan includes a Better Bus System, Advance Rapid Transit Network that bypasses traffic, and innovative solutions for paying and boarding. The plan builds on people-driven findings to see beyond the current system where the majority of VIA bus routes run at a 30- to 60-minute frequency. It continues improvements that have already begun, including more than 1,000 new or improved bus shelters and a new trip-planning and payment app. New high-frequency Prímo service and shorter waits on nearly 20 routes are now also a reality. Here is a quick look at the service changes going into effect: Route 515 Southcross: A segment of the route will be modified to operate on White/VFW between Mission and S. Presa instead of Southcross to accommodate bus clearance issues over a railroad crossing. Route 615 Kel-Lac / Heritage Park: A minor change at the end of the route will be made for operational safety. Route 640 Valley Forge, Route 641 Knollcreek, Route 642 Nacogdoches: Service in this area is scheduled to be changed to the new VIA Link service during the summer. A specific date for this change will be announced. Routes with other minor schedule adjustments include: 20, 26, 32, 82, 95, 96, 100, 301, 672 VIA connects our community to opportunity, supports economic vitality, and enhances quality of life throughout our region.
