Local college students, faculty, and staff can fill up on free VIA service this summer, instead of paying high prices at the pump.

Nine participating campuses in San Antonio now offer the VIA U-Pass program, making free, unlimited VIA bus and VIA Link service available to more than 90,000 students, faculty, and staff members each semester. The current Spring Semester U-Pass is valid through July 31.

The VIA U-Pass is designed to provide convenient access to public transportation and help address the cost and other challenges of owning and maintaining a vehicle or accessing limited parking options near campus. The U-Pass does not require a student purchase. It’s provided to all students enrolled in participating colleges and universities through their partnerships with VIA.

U-Pass Partners:

♦ Alamo Colleges

• San Antonio College

• Palo Alto College

• Northwest Vista College

• St. Philip’s College

• Northeast Lakeview College

♦ University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA)

Students are driving ridership in VIA’s newest VIA Link on-demand zone on the city’s Northwest Side that connects to job, retail, and education centers throughout a 14.4-square-mile area along Loop 1604, including the UTSA Main Campus and Northwest Vista College.

Students with smartphones can access the U-Pass through the free VIA goMobile+ app. Students traveling in any of VIA’s three VIA Link zones can book their trip on the free VIA Link app. Students at participating universities who don’t have smartphones can present their student ID. Some campuses will provide a VIA sticker to attach to ID cards.
