VIA’s Better Bus Plan is designed to deliver faster, more direct service on traditional bus routes and expand VIA Link on-demand service by evaluating VIA’s existing services to identify potential changes that could improve our transit system and create more options to get you where you want to go. The Better Bus Plan includes the service improvements listed below to be implemented on May 4, 2026.

Route 02 - Blanco Span of Service Expansions with Route Realignments

281/1604. All trips terminate at Sir

Route 07 - US 281 Stone Oak Express Span of Service Expansions with Route Realignments
• Realign route to serve Stone Oak Park & Ride, airport, and downtown only.
• Span of service expanded to 11 p.m. on weekdays.
• New weekend service, 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. at 30-minute frequency.
Route 21 - Kirby/Ventura Frequency Improvements
• Increase frequency from 30 minutes to 20 minutes, weekdays; and from 60 minutes to 30 minutes, weekends.
Route 24 - East Houston Frequency Improvements & Route Realignments
• Increase frequency to 15 minutes between Centro Plaza and the Frost Bank Center.
• New branch from Frost Bank Center to East Houston & Lynhaven
Route 34 - South St. Mary’s Route Realignments
• Minor realignment downtown to facilitate interline with Route 21.
Route 46 - Commercial Frequency Improvements & Route Realignments
• Increase frequency from 60 minutes to 30 minutes, weekdays.
• Expand span of service to 12:30 a.m., 60-minute frequency;
• Extend route to Palo Alto College and Madla Transit Center
Route 77 - Martin/Las Palmas Frequency Improvements & Route Realignments

• Realigned from Blanco and Loop 1604 to Stone Oak Park & Ride via Blanco, Huebner, Stone Oak Parkway, Sonterra Boulevard and US 281 Access Road
Route 506 - Blanco/Las Palmas New Routes
• New route with 20-minute frequency on weekdays.
• 30-frequency on weekends.
• Service from 4 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., 7 days a week.
Route 524 - General McMullen Frequency Improvements & Route Realignments
• Increase frequency from 30 minutes to 20 minutes, weekends only.
• Expand span of service to 12:30 a.m., 60- minute frequency.
• Realign to Madla Transit Center via SW Military Drive.
Route 602 - Medical Center/Blossom Frequency Improvements & Route Realignments
• Increase frequency from 60 minutes to 30 minutes, weekends only.
• Realigned to continue on West Avenue, Bitters Road, and end at Blossom Athletic Center
Route 615 - Kel-Lac/Heritage Park Frequency Improvements & Route Realignments
• Increase frequency from 60 minutes to 30 minutes, weekdays.
• Realigned to service Walmart on S. Ellison and Marbach, then continue on regular route.
Route 616 - Sky Harbor/Kel-Lac Frequency Improvements
• Increase frequency from 60 minutes to 30 minutes, weekdays.
Route 649 - North Star/Stone Oak New Routes
• New route with 30-minute frequency.
• Service from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 p,m., 7 days a week.

Increased weekday frequency to 30 minutes.
Route 17 - IH-35 Express Frequency Improvements
Increased frequency to 15 minutes, weekdays during morning and afternoon peaks.
Route 20 - New Braunfels Frequency Improvements
Extend late night service until 12:30 at a 60-minute frequency seven days a week.
Route 22 - Hays Frequency Improvements
Increased frequency to 30 minutes, seven days a week.
Route 64 - US 90 Express Frequency Improvements
- Increase frequency to 30 minutes, weekdays.
- Realign the route to provide new service along TX 151 access road and Alamo Ranch Parkway.
- Route 620 provides service on Segments along Loop 1604 and along Potranco Road.
- Route 612 provides service along Richland Hills Drive.
- VIA Link Mainland provides service to SeaWorld employee and main entrances.
Route 68 - Guadalupe Frequency Improvements
Increase weekend frequency to 15 minutes.
Extend late-night service until 12:30 a.m. at 60-minute frequency, seven days a week.
Route 93 - UTSA Roadrunner Express Frequency Improvements & Route Realignments
- Increased frequency to 15 minutes, weekdays.
- Realigned route downtown onto Commerce Street due to construction project completion.
Route 96 - Vance Jackson Frequency Improvements
- Extended service until 12:30 a.m., 60-minute frequency, seven days a week;
- Extended route to UTSA Main Campus via Hausman Road, Babcock Road, and Loop 1604.
Route 102 - Primo Military Frequency Improvements
Increased weekday frequency to 30 minutes between 10:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.
Route 103 - Prímo Zarzamora Frequency Improvements
Increase weekday frequency to 12 minutes.
Increase weekday late-night service to 30 minutes.
Route 209 - Broadway/Nacog Lineup Route Retirements
- Late night service is available through existing route 10 Nacogdoches Road.
- Service discontinued in the low ridership segment on Broadway between Nacogdoches Road and Loop 410.
Route 243 - S. Flores/Pleasanton Route Retirements
- Retired Route.
- Late night service is available on Routes 43 Flores and 44 Pleasanton Avenue.
Route 296 - Vance Jackson/West Ave Route Retirements
- Retired Route.
- Late-night service available on Routes 96 Vance Jackson and 97 West Avenue.
Route 501 - UTSA/Leon Valley Route Realignments
- Realigned route to Mainland Transfer Point and Eckhert Road.
Route 505 - Basse Frequency Improvements
Increased weekday frequency to 30 minutes.
Route 534 - Wurzbach Frequency Improvements
Increased weekend frequency to 20 minutes.
Extended weekday service until 12:30 a.m. with 60-minute frequency.
Route 603 - Medical Center/UTSA Frequency Improvements & Route Realignments
- Increased weekday frequency to 30 minutes.
- Realigned route to continue on Vance Jackson Road to La Cantera Parkway and UTSA Main Campus.
- Service along De Zavala continues on Route 97.
- Service to the Walmart on Silicon Drive continues on Route 96.
Route 609 - Medical Center/Ingram/Kel-Lac Frequency Improvements & Route Realignments
- Increased weekend frequency to 30 minutes.
- Realigned route from Torasco Street onto Bertetti Drive, Tomar Drive, and Zabra Street to Loop 410 then continues on regular route.
Route 611 - Valley-Hi/Kel-Lac/Hidden Cove Frequency Improvements & Route Realignments
- Increased weekday frequency to 30 minutes.
- Realigned route to serve Marbach Road, Hunt Lane, Ray Ellison Boulevard, Medina Base Road, and Old Pearsall Road to Hidden Cove.
- Route 616 provides service between the Kel-Lac Transit Center and Loop 410.
- Route 619 provides service between Loop 410 at Medina Base Road and the Walmart on Ray Ellison Boulevard.
Route 612 - Kel-Lac/Westlakes/Ingram Frequency Improvements & Route Realignments
- Increased weekday frequency to 30 minutes.
- Realigned route to serve Ingram Transit Center via Lakeside Parkway, Ingram Road, Richland Hills Drive and Loop 410.
Route 614 - Hidden Cove/Kel-Lac Frequency Improvements
- Retired Route.
- Primo 102 continues to provide service along W Military Dr.
- Route 619 serves Medina Base Road between and Five Palms Drive.
- Route 611 provides service along Five Palms Dr to Sweet Maiden Dr and segment along Old Pearsall Road between Ray Ellison Boulevard and Five Palms Drive.
Route 617 - Kel-Lac/Rainbow Hills Route Retirements
- Retired Route.
- Service from Kel-Lac Transit Center to Marbach Road and Horal Drive is available on Route 611. Service on Horal Drive to Bertetti Drive is available on Route 609.
Route 619 - Kel-Lac/Indian Creek/Port San Antonio Frequency Improvements & Route Realignments
- Increased weekday frequency to 30 minutes.
- Realigned route onto US 90 to serve University Southwest Health Center on Southwest 36th Street, Port San Antonio, General Hudnell Drive, Saint Philip’s Southwest Campus, Quintana Road, Southwest Military Road to Briggs Medical Office Park, Five Palms Road, Medina Base Road, to Walmart at Ray Ellison Boulevard.
- Route 102 provides service from Kel-Lac Transit Center along W. Military Drive to Whitewood Street.
- Route 611 provides service along Ray Ellison between Five Palms and Apple Valley Drive; and the Hidden Cove/Indian Creek area along Old Pearsall Road, War Cloud, Sweet Maiden and Five Palms drives.
- Service discontinued on the segment of Route 619 that includes south of Ray Ellison Boulevard along Apple Valley and Vista Valley drives, Spur Valley, Bright Valley, Alpine Valley, Glade Valley and Five Palms drives to Old Pearsall Road.
Route 620 - Northwest Vista College / Ingram Frequency Improvements
Increased frequency to 30 minutes, seven days a week.
Route 648 - North Star/Stone Oak Route Realignments
- Realigned route off Rough Oak Street and onto Henderson Pass.

9 BROADWAY
Service on the Nacogdoches branch will be moved to Route 10. Improves frequency from 40 minutes to 30 minutes on the Broadway branch, seven days a week.

Service from Walmart on Crestway Drive to Randolph Transit Center will be moved to Route 502. Weekday frequency will be improved from every 60 minutes to every 30 minutes from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m.

Improve weekday frequency from 60 minutes to 30 minutes from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Extend route south from Ingram Transit Center to Kel-Lac Transit Center, a segment previously served mostly by Route 618, and discontinue service to Mainland Transfer Point. VIA Link Mainland extended along Eckhert Road.
