Improvements planned for Frio Street beginning October 2017, will affect VIA service in the Centro Plaza area, from West Houston Street to Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard for approximately two months.

VIA bus routes serving Centro Plaza will be placed on temporary detour as the City of San Antonio works to rebuild four intersections along Frio Street. The scheduled route changes will be phased out as the City’s project progresses.

Phase 1 of planned service detours include routes and stops near Frio Street at Cesar Chavez and will last approximately two weeks beginning Oct. 6. Phase 2, tentatively scheduled to begin Oct. 20, will impact service near the Buena Vista, Commerce, and Houston Street intersections, during which almost all Centro Plaza-area routes will follow detours to make connections at Milam Park and other nearby bus stops.

VIA’s next-bus texting service and online trip planner may be affected during this time. For assistance with locating your route and bus stop, or for help planning your trip, please call Customer Service at (210) 362-2020.

VIA will announce route changes and bus stop closures throughout the project via this website, at Transit Centers, Customer Service Centers, aboard buses and vans, and on Facebook and Twitter.
