SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 17, 2017) — VIA Metropolitan Transit is proud to partner with the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner to provide complimentary transportation for senior citizens. The annual holiday tradition provides more than 24,000 meals, prepared and served by volunteers on Thanksgiving Day. Seniors (ages 55 or older) can enjoy complimentary rides to and from the event at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017. The dinner will be held in Exhibit Halls 3 and 4, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The transportation, provided courtesy of event organizers, includes regular line service, as well as VIAtrans service for registered patrons. When boarding, passengers who inform the operator that they are attending the Jimenez Dinner and present a VIA Senior Citizens ID card or identification with proof of age ride free. Guests will be dropped off and picked up at 900 E. Market St. Seniors who would like additional information regarding routes and scheduling on Thanksgiving Day may call (210) 362-2020.

Since 1979, the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner has provided seniors and those in need a place to enjoy a hot and nutritious turkey dinner with all the trimmings on Thanksgiving Day. The event provides seniors a place to dine at a “community dinner table” and celebrate the holiday while enjoying fellowship and entertainment.
