SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 27, 2018) – A series of videos called “VIA Moves Me” has captured a First Place Award in the Best Marketing and Communications Educational Effort 2-D: Social Media category of the 2018 Annual AdWheel Awards presented by the American Public Transportation System (APTA).

VIA received the award for the short videos that capture real-life stories as told by real-life VIA riders, and include a college student who rides crosstown to Texas A&M San Antonio; a Centro San Antonio executive who commutes daily to downtown; and a woman who rides VIA to shop, make visits to the bank and doctors’ appointments and delivers homemade tamales during the holidays.

“VIA makes the connection between people and the things that matter most to them — education, opportunity, family, health,” VIA President/CEO Jeffrey C. Arndt said. “By sharing our riders’ stories through ‘VIA Moves Me,’ we show how public transit is moving people forward, in both figurative and literal ways. It has brought greater awareness to the services VIA provides and the role the agency plays in building a better and brighter San Antonio.”

VIA was presented with the award on Feb. 27, during the 2018 Marketing and Communications Conference and Workshop in San Francisco. The AdWheel Awards recognize the marketing and communications efforts of APTA’s members, allowing them to share best practices that raise the awareness of the value of public transportation.
