VIA Metropolitan Transit will showcase iconic murals located throughout San Antonio’s historic West Side with free guided tours on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Fifteen murals will be featured on the tour, and each celebrates our city’s rich history, as depicted by neighborhood residents, schools, community organizations, and businesses, and coordinated by San Anto Cultural Arts.

The tour is hosted in partnership with the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, San Anto Cultural Arts, and the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center. The family-friendly event kicks off with a welcome ceremony at 9:30 a.m., with San Antonio District 5 Councilwoman Shirley Gonzales, San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Chairwoman Erika Prosper Nirenberg, and VIA President/CEO Jeff Arndt.

Tours will run at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, and 1 p.m., and run approximately one hour each. The trips will start and end at the Guadalupe Theater, following the opening ceremony. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

San Anto Cultural Arts is a nonprofit founded in 1993 with the mission to foster human and community development through community-based arts. Information about art created through the Community Mural Program can be found at SanAnto.org.
