The Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon will be held on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, but street closures affecting VIA services will begin Friday, Nov. 30.

On Friday, Alamo Street will be closed to all traffic between Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Market Street beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing through Sunday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. The following bus routes will be detoured for the duration of this closure:

On Saturday, December 1, the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio 10K will be held in downtown, and 37 VIA bus routes will be on detours for the duration of this race.

Bus detours due to the 10K will begin at 6:30 a.m. on December 1 and will continue until approximately 1 p.m., and bus service will not be available to the Ellis Alley Park and Ride from 6:30 a.m. through 12 p.m. For assistance planning your trips on the morning of December 1, please call 210-362-2020.

On Sunday, December 2, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon will be held in downtown and on several major streets outside the central business district, and extensive detours will affect VIA bus service throughout the day. During the marathon, no traffic will be allowed into the central business district, and most of the VIA detours will be in effect from 4 a.m. through 1 p.m., though some detours may last through 4 p.m.

In order to best accommodate customers who will be riding VIA on December 2, three transfer points have been established at Centro Plaza, Travis Park, and the intersection of Hackberry Street and Denver Street, and all downtown routes will provide service to at least one of these hubs. Riders who need to actually get into the downtown area will be able to ride a limited service shuttle.
