VIA will host a Dedication Celebration for the Brooks Transit Center, 7903 S. New Braunfels at the corner of Sidney Brooks, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, September 14, 2019.

The public is invited to see VIA’s newest Smart Transit Hub, and enjoy a free, family-friendly event to learn about all the great things happening at VIA Brooks Transit Center. Enjoy music, take photos with the Mini-Nova Bus and Prímo the Mascot, games for the kids, and other activities.

The community celebration will include a dedication of the facility and the new art-in-transit installation by San Antonio artist Diana Kersey, and mark the official partnership announcement between VIA and IKE Smart City kiosks. The program includes a ceremonial ribbon cutting and release of over 200 butterflies, inspired by Brooks Greenline Park and representing the ongoing transformation of the Brooks area and VIA.

The state-of-art facility is a connection to all the exciting growth happening at Brooks, a dynamic community, with a rich history and new opportunities.

The Brooks Transit Center features a Customer Information center, open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, where riders can purchase tickets, requests schedules and get help planning a trip.

The new center has numerous features, including air-conditioned waiting areas, ticket-vending machine, and free parking.

VIA’s transit hub also showcases technology and innovation for a better customer experience and is home to the new Prímo 102 route and six other routes – Route 6 US-281 Express, Route 20 New Braunfels Frequent, Route 32 Steves, Route 34 S. St. Mary’s Frequent, Route 36 S. Presa, and Route 552 Loop 410 / W.W. White Skip.

Prímo 102 highlights the routes serving Brooks Transit Center, and connects the Kel-Lac Transit Center along Military Drive to the new facility, with weekday service frequency every 12 minutes during peak times. Route 550/551 Looper Skip will be replaced by Routes 552 and Prímo 102, and Route 552 will serve the segment of Route 550/551 between Kel-Lac Transit Center northward to VIA Brooks Transit Center.
