VIA drops 15-cent fee to make service simpler, more affordable for customers

VIA Metropolitan Transit is eliminating transfer fares and making it simpler and more affordable to choose and use transit. The change is effective November 4, 2019, as part of VIA’s fiscal year 2020 budget that will deliver more service and improvements throughout the system without a fare increase.

“Our budget reflects VIA’s top priorities of providing reliable and affordable public transportation that people in our community can count on—and always making fiscally responsible investments to get it done,” VIA President and CEO Jeff Arndt said. “Dropping the transfer fares will make it easier for our customers to plan their trips and take their journey with us.”

VIA riders who pay using the goMobile app also will see a reduction in the cost of the 2.5-Hour Pass to account for the free transfer. For questions about the new free transfers, call our VIA Go Line at (210) 362-2020.
