VIA Metropolitan Transit is hiring bus operators and mechanics. It’s holding a fifth virtual job fair this year on Thursday, April 15, 2021, in preparation for an increase in service later this year.
VIA has more than 2,000 employees, including more than 1,000 bus and van operators and more than 260 vehicle maintenance workers. The mass transit provider for San Antonio and Bexar County will introduce service improvements this spring 2021, designed to increase frequency and reliability on several key routes throughout the system. VIA is looking to hire new operators and mechanics to help meet an anticipated increase in ridership demand as COVID-19 conditions improve.
The virtual event is designed to maintain safe conditions while opening job opportunities to potential new employees. It will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Thursday, April 15, and can be easily accessed by phone or on Zoom. Applications are being accepted online now on the VIA Employment Page.
Paid training for bus operators is provided for new hires with classes starting every two weeks. No experience is necessary. Mechanics who seek employment must have three years of education or experience. VIA is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
