VIA Metropolitan Transit is hiring bus operators and mechanics, and will be hosting an online “Meet and Greet” using Zoom on Thursday, May 20, 2021 in preparation for an increase in service later this year.
VIA has over 2,000 employees, including more than 1,000 bus and van operators and more than 260 vehicle maintenance workers. The mass transit provider for San Antonio and Bexar County is making service improvements designed to increase frequency and reliability on several key routes throughout the system, and the agency is looking to hire new bus operators and mechanics to help meet an anticipated increase in ridership demand as COVID-19 conditions improve.
The online event is designed to maintain safe conditions while opening job opportunities to potential new employees. It will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Thursday, May 20, and can be easily accessed online using Zoom or by phone. Applications are being accepted online now at VIAinfo.net/employment.
For new bus operators, no experience is necessary and paid training is provided with classes starting every two weeks. Mechanic applicants should have three years of experience or education.
