Texas A&M University – San Antonio is the latest to partner with VIA on U-Pass program

More local college students and faculty can now ride fare-free with the expansion of VIA Metropolitan Transit’s U-Pass program

Texas A&M University-San Antonio is the latest to join VIA’s U-Pass program, offering convenient, affordable public transportation options from campus, including the new VIA Link South zone that opened this month.

The new, on-demand ride-share option covers over 12 square miles on the city’s South Side, including TAMU-SA, South San High School, South Park Mall, H-E-B, shopping, restaurants, work, church, medical appointments, and more.

Through VIA’s U-Pass partnerships with Alamo Colleges, Our Lady of the Lake University, the University of the Incarnate Word, and the University of Texas at San Antonio, more than 100,000 active students, faculty, and staff members already enjoy unlimited trips on VIA bus and VIA Link service.

U-Pass participants can access fare-free, unlimited trips throughout the VIA service area by showing their school ID to the operator when boarding.

VIA provides modern passenger amenities including cashless payment options though it’s free goMobile app, access to BCycle and other travel tools on the Transit app, free high-speed Wi-Fi with instant access to the Bexar BiblioTech e-library.
