Clamp named Chief Administration Officer, Sanchez named Senior Vice President of Planning and Development, and Dillard takes on role of Vice President of Technology and Innovation

VIA Metropolitan Transit is working to deliver transformative new transit projects to the community, and as a mission-driven agency, is a choice employer that attracts top talent in the region.

In recent weeks, the agency has added three innovative leaders to its ranks.

JOHN G. CLAMP

John Clamp

CLAMP

John G. Clamp was hired as Chief Administration Officer, a position designed to help support and direct VIA’s Fiscal, Procurement, Technology/Innovation and Human Resources divisions. He will oversee short- and long-term operational impacts of four divisions while also managing VIA resources and capital assets.

Clamp, a former District 10 councilman, previously served as senior vice president of finance and administration at The DoSeum, chief financial officer for the Alamo Area Council of Governments, executive director of the San Antonio Hotel and Lodging Association, and president and chief operating officer of Landmark Companies. He also held several leadership positions at USAA.

ROD SANCHEZ

Rod Sanchez

SANCHEZ

Roderick “Rod” J. Sanchez, AICP, who was an assistant city manager, has joined VIA as Senior Vice President of Planning and Development. In that role, Sanchez will oversee and direct all aspects of VIA’s planning and capital expansion program, including high-capacity transit projects and other capital investments, such as the Advanced Rapid Transit (A.R.T.) Green and Silver Lines that are part of the Keep San Antonio Moving plan approved by San Antonio voters in 2020.

Prior to joining VIA, Sanchez served as Assistant City Manager for the City of San Antonio, a position he held since February 2017. There, he oversaw more than 1,700 employees and managed an annual operating budget of $830 million. Sanchez’s role included oversight of the City’s Development Services, Public Works, Building and Equipment Services, Planning, and Transportation departments. Prior to being appointed assistant city manager, he served as the Building Official for the City of San Antonio and Director of the Development Services Department.

BRIAN DILLARD

Brian Dillard

DILLARD

Brian Dillard was recently named Vice President of Technology and Innovation. He will oversee VIA’s departments of Transportation Technology, Information Services, Technology Operations and Information Technology Client Services. Among his charges, Dillard will lead his department to maximize the effectiveness of data collection, processing and reporting.

“Each brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and dedication to our mission of keeping San Antonio moving and pushing the agency to new heights,” said Jeffrey C. Arndt, VIA President/CEO. “Their addition to our team underscores VIA’s commitment to revolutionize the agency and create a better, more efficient multimodal transit authority that meets the needs of our growing community. But it also personifies the reality that VIA is a choice employer in the region that is attracting top talent to help drive our mission forward.”

Beyond their service to San Antonio through their work at VIA, Sanchez, Clamp, and Dillard are all active in the community through various forms of professional and civic engagement, serving in various leadership roles across industry, education and civic organizations.

“I’ve served in the military and worked in the private and public sectors and am excited to take on a new challenge at VIA, an organization driven by talented, dedicated employees,” Dillard said. “Everyone at VIA — from the technology team to our frontline — is focused on the same mission: to serve and connect our community, every day.”
