Fans flooded downtown for multiple events on Oct. 25, 2025, using public transportation in record numbers.

VIA Metropolitan Transit recorded its highest Park & Ride special event ridership in more than a decade on Oct. 25, providing 23,254 rides to and from the Robert Thompson Transit Station at the Alamodome — surpassing all previous events since October 2013.

“We’re proud to reach this milestone and even prouder of how riders are choosing VIA as an affordable, convenient way to connect with their city,” said VIA President & CEO Jon Gary Herrera. “Each trip represents more than a ride — it’s fewer cars on the road, less congestion downtown and stronger connections to the people and places that matter most. When you use VIA to get to major events, you take the hassle out of your plans and have the best and easiest access to downtown.”

VIA, the City of San Antonio — including the Alamodome and Police Department — Centro San Antonio and its Alamo City Amigos, and organizers from Muertos Fest worked collaboratively to ensure residents and visitors were educated on mobility options for Saturday, as officials had estimated that well more than 100,000 people would be attending events in downtown on Saturday. The efforts through this partnership, including encouraging event attendees to choose public transportation, led to record special-event usage of VIA services, including Park & Ride and fixed-route service.
