What happened: The VIA Board of Trustees voted Tuesday to adopt August 2026 Service Changes. The changes were designed to create a service network that is frequent, direct, convenient and simple. Changes will give communities on the routes more accces to groceries, pharmacies and jobs in the region. In addition to providing a better customer experience, the changes will lead to an increase in opportuties for current and future bus operators.
What changes: Five routes will be impacted: Learn more.
- 515 Southcross will be realigned to improve the span of service
- 62 Kirk and 89 Poplar will receive frequency improvements
- 51 Nogalitos and 62 will see span of service improvements
- 251 (51-62 Lineup) will be replaced.
Why it matters: These changes are based on the Better Bus Plan and will allow VIA to improve the productivity of our most cost-efficient form of transit. August 2026 changes represent an additional 5% implemented toward the overall plan, bringing the total up to 70% of fixed-route network changes carried out.
