Ways to Pay on VIA

goCard lite

Riders who prefer not to use a mobile phone or a goCard, can use VIA’s goCard lite, a smart card that replaces the e-fare card and can be loaded with a 31-Day Pass, 7-Day Pass and/or Day Pass. Simply tap the fare box with the goCard lite. The value remaining on the card and its expiration will be displayed on the farebox screen. The goCard lite is not reloadable.

Purchasing Fare

The goCard lite can be purchased at all VIA Customer Service Centers and many retail outlets including most H-E-B stores (listed below). Day Passes are also available on every bus. If you purchase your e-fare Day Pass on the bus, you must let your driver know you want to buy a Day Pass before inserting any money into the fare box. Your Day Pass will be dispensed, activated and stamped with an expiration date. Simply swipe and go on subsequent trips during that day.

Transfers and Day Passes

If you are paying your fare on the bus and would like either a Day Pass or free 2.5-hour transfer, you will be given a paper ticket with a unique barcode. That barcode can then be scanned as payment on your next bus.
