Updates include new VIA Link Zone and Express service to Airport

A new VIA Link zone, and an Express bus service to the San Antonio International Airport are part of VIA Metropolitan Transit’s scheduled service changes beginning August 22, 2022. New VIA Link Zone: A new VIA Link zone opened on August 8, 2022, on the city’s South Side to serve an area that includes VIA’s Madla Transit Center, Palo Alto College, Texas A&M University-San Antonio, South San High School, South Park Mall, H-E-B, Toyota Motor Manufacturing and more. VIA Link South is VIA’s fourth on-demand transit zone to open since 2019. The app-based van service will replace existing bus service in the area, offering better frequency, additional hours of operation, and improved access to convenient trip options with the same fares and discounts as bus service. 7 US 281 Stone Oak/Brooks: Express Route 7 will be modified to provide service from the Stone Oak Park & Ride to the San Antonio International Airport with the new Park & Airport Service. These service changes were completed in anticipation of ART. The north-south corridor of ART is planned to connect to the airport.

28 Porter Frequent: The Southcross Boulevard branch of Route 28 will be realigned to use Paula Drive instead of Sinclair.

93 IH 10 Crossroads/UTSA Express, 97 West Avenue, 501 UTSA/Leon Valley, 603 Medical Center/UTSA:
These routes will be modified to bypass the University Park & Ride due to construction. Transfers between routes 93, 501, 603, and VIA Link will be available at UTSA. Transfers between routes 93 and 97 will be available at The Rim.

524 General McMullen: Frequent To reduce wait times, the extension of Route 524 from Texas Vista Medical Center to Palo Alto College will be replaced with new VIA Link South service. The route extension will remain in service until at least October 2022.

651 Deco District/Castle Hills: The weekday frequency of Route 651 will be increased to every 90 minutes between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. to improve on-time reliability. The previous frequency for this route was 70 minutes on weekdays and 65minutes Saturdays and Sundays. This change in frequency will help with the reliability of the route, making the scheduled times more consistent with actual travel times.

672 Texas A&M University – San Antonio/Madla Transit Center: To reduce wait times, Route 672 will be replaced with new VIA Link South service. Route 672 will remain in service until at least October 2022.

The schedules for routes 42 and 88 will have minor adjustments.
