Talk with recruiters about positions as Mechanics, Bus Operators and Transit Security Officers

VIA Metropolitan Transit is offering a hiring incentive of up to $4,000 for bus and paratransit van operators and up to $6,000 for mechanics and CDL shop attendants, and will host a job fair on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

Applicants are encouraged to apply online prior to attending the job fair, which will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the VIA Metro Center, 1021 San Pedro Ave. Free parking is available.

Representatives from Fleet Maintenance, Bus Operations and Transit Police will be available to meet with potential applicants seeking positions as operators, mechanics, CDL Shop attendants, and several other available positions in the organization. Starting pay for bus operators is $20.96 per hour and $23.07 per hour for mechanics.

Paid training is provided for new operator hires with classes starting weekly. No experience is necessary. The agency is expanding its workforce in order to introduce spring service improvements designed to increase frequency and reliability on several key routes throughout the system. VIA has more than 2,000 employees, including more than 800 bus and van operators and more than 260 vehicle maintenance workers. VIA’s service area is more than 1,200 square miles across San Antonio, suburban cities and Bexar County.
