VIA Metropolitan Transit celebrated its employees as part of National Transit Employee Appreciation Day on March 18, 2025, It’s a day when transit organizations across the country recognize and honor their dedicated workforces. The organization thanked employees for their contributions with a series of activations to acknowledge their hard work and dedication.






Transit Driver Appreciation Day began in 2009 as an opportunity to show gratitude for public transportation operators across the United States. In 2024, the day of recognition was changed to include all Transit Employees. VIA relies on bus and van operators as its front line employees, but it takes an entire staff, including mechanics, fleet maintenance, finance, human resources, administration staff, and many others to keep San Antonio moving.

ALWAYS GROWING
VIA is currently hiring bus and van operators, reservation agents, mechanics, transit police officers, transit security officers and several administrative positions.
Hiring incentives are available for select positions, with up to $4,000 for bus and van operators, and up to $6,000 for mechanics. These incentives reflect VIA’s commitment to attracting skilled professionals to support the growing needs of the San Antonio community.
