Bus Operators, Mechanics, Paratransit Reservation Agents, Transit Police Officers and Transit Security Officers
VIA Metropolitan Transit will host a Hiring Event from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the VIA Metro Center, 1021 San Pedro Ave, looking to fill the following positions:
♦ Bus operators
♦ Reservation agents
♦ Mechanics
♦ Transit police officers
♦ Transit security officers
Job applicants who apply online prior to the event will be interviewed on-site. A complete list of open jobs and the online application are available on the VIA Employment Page.
Attendees can also apply for other open positions online. These positions will follow VIA’s standard hiring process and will not be eligible for interviews at the job fair. VIA is offering hiring incentives of up to $4,000 for bus operators, and up to $6,000 for mechanics.
For full-time bus operators, VIA’s starting hourly wage is $22.45, which increases to more than $24 by the 12th month of service. Starting wage for mechanics is $26.79 per hour. Bus operators, mechanics and maintenance employees receive uniform allowances. Mechanics also receive tool allowances.
Paid training is provided for new operator hires with classes starting weekly. VIA encourages applicants who meet the following criteria to apply for bus operator openings:
♦ 21 years or older
♦ Valid Texas driver’s license
♦ There years of experience driving a vehicle
