VIA Metropolitan Transit operates special event park & ride service to many San Antonio events. So when you are going to a concert, Fiesta, Folklife or a sporting event, get there on VIA to avoid the traffic and parking hassles. It is the best way to go.

  • UTSA Roadunner Football 2017 Season

    VIA Metropolitan Transit will offer convenient and affordable Special Event Park & Ride Service to UTSA Roadunner Football games at the Alamodome for the 2017 season.

     

    Park & Ride Service

    Service is available at:

    VIA’s Special Event Park & Ride Service eliminates parking hassles, parking fees and traffic headaches, so you can ride to the game with fellow Roadrunner fans and get in the spirit before you even get to your seat.

    Fares

    Fare is $2.50 each; Student Fare is $1.25 each way, and a current Student ID must be displayed when boarding.

    Tickets can be purchased in advance using VIA’s goMobile app. Tickets also are available at the University Center on the UTSA Main Campus, or any VIA Information Center. Park & Ride tokens also can be purchased (cash or credit card) on game day at the Kiosk at each Park & Ride location.

    Hours of Service

    Park & Ride Service will be available for all UTSA home games to the Alamodome. will begin 2 ½ hours before kickoff. Return service will run 1 hour after the official end each game.

    9/2  – University of Houston, 6 p.m. POSTPONED
    9/16  – Southern University, 6 p.m.
    10/7 – Southern Miss, 6 p.m.
    10/21 – Rice, 6 p.m.
    11/11 – UAB, 6 p.m.
    11/18 – Marshall, 6 p.m.

    Additional VIA Service

    In addition to Park & Ride Service, VIA Primo (100) and VIVA centro (301) will be detoured to serve the Robert Thompson Transit Center at the Alamodome, beginning 2 ½ hours before kickoff and continuing 1 hour after the game. Fare is $1.30 (.65 for students) each way.

    A valid Student ID is required for student fare, and must be displayed when boarding. Exact change is required when not using the VIAgoMobile app. Bus operators do provide change. Ticket sellers are not available at stops along these routes. VIA’s Day Pass, 7-Day and 31-Day Pass are valid for Primo and VIVA Service.

    Alamodome Advisory

    In efforts to provide a safer environment for the public and in order to expedite fan entry into the stadium, a Clear Bag Policy that limits the size & type of bags that may be brought into the Alamodome is in effect. Fans traveling to Roadrunner football games and board VIA buses with non-clear bags, purses, backpack, etc., will not be allowed to take those bags into the Alamodome.

    Park & Ride Service

    • Randolph Park & Ride, 9400 IH-35 N.

    VIA’s Special Event Park & Ride Service eliminates parking hassles, parking fees and traffic headaches.

    Instead, you can ride to the game with fellow Spurs fans and get in the spirit before you event get to your seat.

    Hours of Service

    The first bus departs each Park & Ride location one hour before tipoff. The last bus departs 30 minutes before tipoff. Return service will run for 30 minutes after the end of each game.

    Park & Ride Service will be available for all Spurs home games. Cash and credit cards are accepted at the Park & Ride location.

Special Event FAQ

Can I bring a drink on the bus?

In an effort to keep our buses clean and comfortable, VIA asks passengers to refrain from eating food or drinking beverages while on the bus.

Where do I get back on the bus?

You may board the bus at the same point you exited. Park and ride buses are labeled at the top by the front door and top front of the bus as to which location the bus is going. If you have any questions and would to like to make sure you’re on the correct bus, you may ask a nearby supervisor or the bus operator.

When does the last bus leave?

Buses will start returning to park and ride locations immediately after the special event is over, for approximately 30 minutes.

What is the fare?

  • The special event fare is $5 roundtrip for adults (two one-way trips of $2.50 each).

  • A discount fare of $2.50 roundtrip (two one-way trips of $1.25 each) is available for children ages 5-11 as well as senior citizens 62 years and older, Medicare recipients, persons with disabilities, and students with a valid VIA ID.

  • VIAtrans customers ride free. If the VIAtrans customer is accompanied by one companion and/or one authorized personal care attendant, all may ride special event service free of charge.

  • Children ages 4 and under are also free when they are accompanied by an adult.

  • VIA’s monthly passes are not valid for special event service.
