Special Event Service

VIA Metropolitan Transit operates special event park & ride service to many San Antonio events. So when you are going to a concert, Fiesta, Folklife or a Spurs game, get there on VIA to avoid the traffic and parking hassles. It is the best way to go.

  • CONCACAF Gold Cup Soccer - July 16, 2017

    VIA Metropolitan Transit will offer convenient and affordable Special Event Park & Ride Service for soccer fans attending the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Gold Cup soccer games, featuring Jamaica vs. El Salvador (5 p.m.) and Curaçao vs. Mexico (7 p.m.), on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at the Alamodome, 100 Montana St. The Jamaica and El Salvador teams will see two new coaches face off, and the Curaçao and Mexico teams have never met in a match before.     VIA’s Special Event Park & Ride Service eliminates parking hassles, parking fees and traffic headaches.

    Instead, you can ride to the game with fellow Spurs fans and get in the spirit before you event get to your seat.

    Hours of Service

    The first bus departs the Crossroads Park & Ride location at 3 p.m. Return service will run for one hour after the end of match.

    Park & Ride Service will be available for all Spurs home games. Cash and credit cards are accepted at the Park & Ride location.

    The first bus departs each Park & Ride location one hour before tipoff. The last bus departs 30 minutes before tipoff. Return service will run for 30 minutes after the end of each game.

    Park & Ride Service will be available for all Spurs home games. Cash and credit cards are accepted at the Park & Ride location.

Special Event FAQ

Can I bring a drink on the bus?

In an effort to keep our buses clean and comfortable, VIA asks passengers to refrain from eating food or drinking beverages while on the bus.

Where do I get back on the bus?

You may board the bus at the same point you exited. Park and ride buses are labeled at the top by the front door and top front of the bus as to which location the bus is going. If you have any questions and would to like to make sure you’re on the correct bus, you may ask a nearby supervisor or the bus operator.

When does the last bus leave?

Buses will start returning to park and ride locations immediately after the special event is over, for approximately 30 minutes.

What is the fare?

  • The special event fare is $5 roundtrip for adults (two one-way trips of $2.50 each).

  • A discount fare of $2.50 roundtrip (two one-way trips of $1.25 each) is available for children ages 5-11 as well as senior citizens 62 years and older, Medicare recipients, persons with disabilities, and students with a valid VIA ID.

  • VIAtrans customers ride free. If the VIAtrans customer is accompanied by one companion and/or one authorized personal care attendant, all may ride special event service free of charge.

  • Children ages 4 and under are also free when they are accompanied by an adult.

  • VIA’s monthly passes are not valid for special event service.
